Lowering the thermostat several degrees specifically for the overnight hours, rather than keeping a single temperature all day, aligns cooling with when the body most needs it. A dehumidifier, run alongside air conditioning, can address the humidity component directly in climates or homes where mugginess lingers even with cool air circulating. Breathable, moisture-wicking bedding and sleepwear reduce the trapped heat and humidity that build up directly against the skin overnight, supporting the evaporative cooling that heavier fabrics interfere with.
A fan positioned to move air across the body, even in an air-conditioned room, can meaningfully improve the sensation of cooling by promoting the evaporation that humid, still air otherwise prevents—the same principle that makes fans useful for daytime comfort applies directly to nighttime sleep.
